Did you know that every business that has oil stored on its premises is required by law need to have a bunded tank.
Government regulations concerning Commercial, Industrial and Institutions premises (factories, shops, schools, hotels, public-sector building and hospitals) for England came into force in 2001 stating:
• From March 2002 all new installations must be bunded.
• By September 2003 all existing installations at 'Significant Risk' must be bunded. 'Significant Risk' means oil stored where the tank installation is:
• Within 10 metres of controlled watercourse such as stream, river etc.
• Located where a spillage could run into an open drain or loose fitting manhole cover.
• Within 50 metres of a borehole or spring.
•Where the vent pipe is not visable from the fill point.
• Any other Potential hazards individual to the site.
• By 1st September 2005 all remaining oil storage tanks must be bunded.
